Sue Berman, Co-Owner, Clinical Director, Blue Heron Wellness
Sue Berman is co-owner and clinical director of Blue Heron Wellness and is licensed by the State of Maryland in both acupuncture and clinical social work. As a couples, family and individual therapist for twenty-five years and a former high school French and ESOL (English as a Second Language) teacher, she has applied her skills in promoting and building relationships with and among people in her third career as a practitioner of Traditional Five Element Acupuncture. Sue is also a graduate of and faculty member of the Tai Sophia Institute in Laurel, Maryland, the oldest graduate facility in the country that teaches acupuncture and other holistic healing modalities.
Elisa Rivetti, Co-Owner, Blue Heron Wellness
After completing her education at George Washington University, where she graduated with a master’s degree in Health Service Administration, Elisa worked for nearly 20 years in managed care, directing and leading provider networks for large insurance companies providing commercial and public insurance products. Although her experience was in traditional health care, Elisa became a proponent of complementary health services. She quickly recognized a lack of convenient and well-organized services in the suburbs and saw in that an opportunity to bring to market an innovative, integrated holistic wellness program. She founded and built with her partner, Acupuncturist Sue Berman, a successful model of this holistic approach. Blue Heron Wellness has become known for providing coordinated holistic complementary health services to a loyal clientele both in their inviting facility and off-site in the client’s workplace
Lori Chaikin, Workplace Wellness Director
Lori’s background has taken her from classroom to boardroom and from showroom to treatment room. Although she began her career as an elementary school educator, she spent 15 years in corporate Human Resources for nationally-recognized high-end specialty retailers in Washington, New York, Los Angeles and Miami. Leaving the corporate world to manage the showroom and staff of a local independent import business allowed her to pursue her life-long passion for fitness and exercise and build a personal training business. After experiencing the benefits of the integrated wellness services of Blue Heron Wellness as a client, she joined our team. Lori has brought her commitment to improving the health and well-being of others and her marketing and management skills together to design and implement our expanded Workplace Wellness program.
Liz Butler, Blue Heron Wellness Yoga Director, Yoga Instructor
Liz Butler is yoga director and a yoga instructor at Blue Heron Wellness. She is an Anusara-Inspired RYT 200 and holds a masters degree in Public Administration and bachelors degree in Economics and English. Liz’s journey into yoga started with seemingly incurable back pain in 2000 and she has been practicing, studying or teaching ever since. Before she discovered yoga, she spent over a decade administering programs in the public and private sectors aimed at improving economic conditions for disadvantaged populations. She believes that yoga is an equally effective medium for enhancing well-being.
