Yoga I

This class is taught by:

Sherry Weber

Sherry has been a practicing massage therapist for over ten years. She is a graduate of The Baltimore School of Massage. She has experience working in a variety of settings. She has worked extensively with seniors, worked with parents and caregivers teaching infant massage, in corporate offices, health fairs, and wellness retreats doing seated massage. Her toolbox includes techniques from Swedish, deep tissue, myofascial and Thai massage. Sherry believes that massage and yoga belong together, and are two of the best things you can do for yourself! She considers herself blessed to be doing what she loves!

Claudia Neuman

Born in Los Angeles, California, Claudia began her formal yoga training in 1984. It was there that she spent 10 years assisting and teaching along side some of the most noteworthy teachers of our time. She traveled and studied with Pattabhi Jois (creator of the Ashtanga Yoga System), she was one of the first to graduate from Rod Stryker’s ISHTHA Yoga Teachers Training, she assisted Erich Shiffman for several years, and also studied and taught at Forrest Yoga. While at USC completing a Masters degree in Social Work, she taught yoga to students and faculty alike. She integrated her skills as a therapist and yoga instructor developing corporate stress reduction programs, working with oncology patients at Children’s Hospital, and teaching yoga to artists and performers. In 2005 she received certification in Anusara Yoga. Claudia’s classes reflect her rich background of yoga experience as well as the love and dedication to her life-long practice of yoga. Look for Claudia's regular quarterly articles in Pathways Magazine.

Donna Britt

Donna Britt first took yoga 15 years ago in Mexico and fell in love with its beauty, precision and spirituality. After studying Iyengar and vinyasa flow yoga locally for several years, she learned that her favorite yoga teacher was moving out of the state. Britt was flattered--and terrified--when the teacher asked if she'd like to take over teaching her class. After training with Yogafit, Britt taught yoga for three years at White Oak Sport & Health and a number of private clients. She is a member of the International Association of Black Yoga Instructors.

Persis Andrews

Persis Andrews is a long time student of Blue Heron Wellness where she has taken Kati Gimes’ yoga classes for many years. She decided to take the Blue Heron Teacher Training this past spring because she wanted to deepen her understanding of yoga. In her teaching, she balances the playfulness she learned from her grandchildren, the innovation she learned from keeping ahead of her high school students, and the focus she learned from Kati.

See what Persis' clients are saying:

"This was my very first yoga class and I didn't know what to expect....
The teacher was wonderful and made me feel welcome and confidant, with a lot of individual attention.  I will certainly be a regular student at Blue Heron from now on!"  Stacey P., 9/2016

Francine Brungardt

Francine’s independent and intuitive yogic studies began over thirty years ago. First practicing with Lilias Folan via the rabbit-eared black and white t.v. screen on top of a dresser in her parent’s bedroom, she’s followed her heart through various paths and lessons ever since. Her roots stand firmly in the Hatha tradition and her primary influences from the alignment based branches of yoga continue to inform and inspire her.

Francine's Clients Say:
"It was my first time attending a prenatal yoga class (at 20 pregnant) and I left feeling so inspired! Francine is wonderful and let's you do everything at your pace and comfort level. I came in with back pain and left feeling no pain and excited about attending the next class!" Nadia J, 7/2016

"Very relaxing and friendly environment. The receptionist was very welcoming. I did pre-natal yoga. The teacher, Francine, was really nice to put me at ease since it was my first time. She also provided good advices during the lesson to do postures at the very best and after she recommended other courses I can attend in my conditions. I think it is a very good investment for yourself and I think I will also try the many other services they offer!" Francesca B., 10/15

"Francine is such a nurturing guide for all of the mamas in her pre and post natal class. She gently encourages women to stretch and build strength for their changing bodies while honoring the new life building within. She takes the time to get to know individual students and provides emotional as well as physical support. I recommend this class to all mamas!" Annie N. 11/2015

Wanting to understand the history and practice of yoga, she completed her 200 and 300 hour teacher training at the Yoga Center of Columbia. Lisa has also completed the Therapeutic Yoga for Seniors program at Duke Integrative Medicine. She teaches alignment-based Hatha yoga and strives to develop classes that are fun and accessible. Lisa believes everyone can practice yoga, and is committed to making sure her students feel safe and welcome!
