Our practice will use softer sustained holds to allow time for the muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia to release, for energy to flow more freely and for the mind to calm. The workshop is accessible to all body types and levels of experience. Various yoga props will be used to help everyone work comfortably in the poses. Some time will also be given to breathwork and meditation.</div>

<div>This workshop introduces Yin Yoga theory and its simple repertoire of poses that address the ligaments, tendons, and disc spaces of joints. This contemplative practice utilizes modest floor poses to stretch and compress connective tissue giving particular focus to the hips, sacrum, low spine, and knees. The foundational principles of Yin Yoga will be discussed as will the science and chemistry of why Yin Yoga is so uniquely therapeutic and rehabilitative to these areas of the body. Yin Yoga is an excellent modality for providing a structural and emotional counterbalance to more muscular forms of asana and other &#8220;yang&#8221; activities. While this practice will re-awaken and prime joints in people who have resisted becoming active because of joint pain, Yin Yoga is also ideal for athletes who experience joint pain caused by muscular overuse. The gentle but consistent stimulation to the connective tissues taught through Yin Yoga encourages long-term health and flexibility of the joints, calms and recharges the nervous system, and naturally draws the mind inward into a relaxed, meditative state. Everyone welcome. $25</div>
