The Origins of Yoga and How This Relates to Your Modern Life with Claudia Neuman Sun, Oct 9, 2016 at 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Ever wonder why or how Yoga came about? Why was it important in the ancient world and why is it so important in our world today? This background will help yogis of today to answer our own questions: How does your yoga practice affect your life? How do you know if you are making progress in yoga? Why does doing a yoga pose change your life?

In this workshop series you will find a deeper understanding of the ancient texts, such as the Vedas, Upanishads, The Hatha Yoga Pradipika and The Bhagavad Gita. You will also learn the historic evolution of Tantra and how this affected yogic philosophy today.

Our session in Oct. will pay closer attention to the evolution of the Samkhya tradition, which measures the seen and unseen worlds, how consciousness becomes matter, the creating of the Gunas, The Doshas, The Subtle Doshas, The Tattvas and ultimately, relate this back to our modern times and understanding of yoga today.

Claudia will include lecture, a yoga asana practice, pranayama, and meditation. This workshop is suitable for anyone who is interested in going deeper into the practice of yoga.

200-hour yoga teachers can receive Continuing Education hours for this workshop.

Claudia has a deep and broad experience with yoga. She began studying in 1985 and has trained with many leaders of the yoga movement in the US including Eric Shiffman, Pattabhi Jois, John Friend, Moses Brown, Desiree Rumbaugh and more. She is E-RYT -500 certified.

Yin Yoga Training: Joints, Fascia & Meridians Learn the foundations of Yin Yoga in this 4 day training. It will cover the essential aspects of Yin Yoga theory and prepare participants to integrate and safely teach this unique modality. The training is appropriate for both yoga teachers who are interested in teaching Yin Yoga and for students who wish to deepen their understanding of the practice. In-depth topics will include: • Anatomy of joints and how skeletal variations affects range of motion and principles of individual alignment. • Cutting edge research on the function of fascia/connective tissues and the stimulating the chemical response for general support and for rehabilitation. • Core concepts of Taoist Meridian Theory and the study of the body's energy system as intertwined with fascia and how the practice of Yin Yoga influences meridians, organ health, and psychological well being. • Repertoire of Yin Yoga asanas and relevant ways modify and adjust postures in order to safely create practices for each individual that will tend to the desired joint tissue or energy lines. Yoga Alliance certified teachers can receive a certificate on completion for twenty five (25) Continuing Education (CEU) hours. Training cost: $530.
