Friday Night Yoga Nidra Workshop with Shira Oz-Sinai Fri, Jul 8, 2016 at 7:45 pm - 9:00 pm
More than a mere relaxation technique that dissipates in moments, Yoga Nidra is a way to access and fully experience your ever-present peacefulness amidst all the chaos, stress, and changing circumstances in life. Known as the meditative heart of yoga, this practice takes you on a journey of noticing physical sensations, breath, emotions, thoughts, and a sense of self. By inviting you to effortlessly unwind, tune in, and tend to your whole being, this meditation supports the release of negative thought patterns, alleviates the pressure of challenging feelings, and deeply nourishes your sense of well-being. Appropriate for every body. Beginners and advanced students welcome.

"Love, love Shira for yoga nidra. She has the right pacing, words, tone to help you get to the place of total relaxation, the likes of I never knew before!" - Blue Heron client.

QiGong, Deep Relaxation and Meditation with Peter Mosher Sat, Jul 23, 2016 at 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
We will engage in Qigong instruction and practice, deep relaxation, and mindfulness meditation with singing bowls and meditative chanting. The Qigong practice flows naturally into deep relaxation and this establishes the conditions for meditation to be most effective by slowing down and opening the body, mind and spirit for nurturing and healing.

Qigong instruction draws from ancient traditional Chinese health practices, its relationship to acupuncture, and to Indian yogic practices. We will explore how our energy/prana/chi flows through our bodies, how it becomes blocked, how we can remove blocks and move toward optimum health. Qigong practice is done using slow movements coordinated with the breath.

Following Qigong practice, you will be guided into deep relaxation. From this relaxed physical and mental state we will move into a period of guided meditation maintaining mindfulness of our energy as it flows through our entire being enhancing mental, emotional, and spiritual clarity and well being. We will close with a healing meditation.

All Levels Welcome. Cost: $20

The Gift of Slowing Down: Yin Yoga for Total Rejuvenation Workshop - $20 with Claudia Neuman Fri, Aug 5, 2016 at 7:45 pm - 9:00 pm
Yin Yoga practice offers you the opportunity to explore effortlessness while rejuvenating the connective tissue of the major joints of the body. The Yin approach encourages true physical health and sound emotional well being through longer held poses with relaxed musculature. As we move into this slow and deep practice our focus will be on connecting to the ‘Inner Teacher’ who resides in that place of nurturing stillness within all of us, setting the stage for meditation and contemplative practices.

This workshop is suitable for all levels of yogis. Pre-registration recommended. $20 per session.
Psoas Psession with Liz Butler Sat, Aug 6, 2016 at 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm
The psoas is a hip flexor muscle connecting the upper body and legs. It is a key player in our yoga practice with the ability to enhance or restrict energy and expression of our asana. According to Yoga Journal it affects every facet of life from physical well-being to how you relate to the world! In this workshop, participants will learn to engage and stretch this muscle for maximum benefit to their practice. Join us as we explore the psoas - bringing more psafety, pstability and psecurity to our practice and lives. Not for beginners.

Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga Workshop with Machelle Lee Sat, Aug 27, 2016 at 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Yoga students commonly ask us if Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga are the same thing. While both have qualities of restoration for the body/psyche, they are actually vastly different practices. In this workshop, Restorative Yoga instructor, Tara Lemerise, and Yin Yoga teacher, Machelle Lee, invite you to come and experience the unique and profoundly valuable elements these two practices offer.

Yin Yoga utilizes poses on the floor, either sitting or lying down, held for 3-5 minutes each in order to modestly, within limits, stimulate ligaments through traction and compression of joint tissue. In the first segment of this workshop, you will move through a full body Yin Yoga practice designed for the support of the joints, tendons, and ligaments of the low back, spine, hips, sacrum, knees and ankles. This mediative practice will prepare you to sink deeper into rest.

Restorative Yoga is more “yin," meaning even for subtle, than Yin Yoga. In this portion of the workshop you will find a unique circuit of poses, with all of the necessary blankets, bolsters, and blocks skillfully arranged. Instead of asking your body and mind to do more, this practice
will soothe your nervous system, quiet your mind, and help you release deeply held tension in a completely passive way.

The combination Yin and Restorative Yoga will move you progressively into a deeply relaxing afternoon and provide the perfect opportunity for you to get the nourishing rest you need in order to move back into your evening feeling revitalized and refreshed.
